Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)
Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a 5-hour listening therapy designed to help regulate your nervous system. Based on Dr. Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory, SSP focuses on the role of the vagus nerve in controlling how we respond to stress. The therapy uses filtered music that matches the frequency of the human voice, which sends calming messages to the nervous system. This music also exercises the muscles in the middle ear, making the ear more attuned to safety cues in the environment.
Because each nervous system responds uniquely, SSP is delivered gradually, with careful monitoring for progress and any signs of dysregulation. This approach ensures that the therapy is both effective and safe for each individual.
I first turned to SSP when my daughter developed medical trauma following a major surgery. She was struggling with sound sensitivities, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, and sensory issues. After researching potential solutions, I discovered SSP. With careful application, we saw remarkable improvements in her well-being within weeks. I then tried SSP myself and experienced significant improvements in mood, emotional regulation, and social engagement. This powerful tool has had such a positive impact on our lives that I pursued further training to offer it to my clients.
Why SSP is a Great Fit for Moms
SSP is especially beneficial for moms whose nervous systems are often stuck in fight/flight/freeze mode due to the many demands of daily life. It is highly effective for improving emotional regulation, managing social anxiety, reducing symptoms of depression, and working through trauma. Many clients report feeling more grounded, better able to tolerate stress, and more joyful and present with their families.

SSP for Families
SSP can also be delivered to children, but it is important for parents to be trained in its careful application. I offer a dual package that allows both parent and child to experience the benefits of SSP together, ensuring that it is delivered effectively in a safe and supportive environment.
